Dreamweaver CS3 VQJ cover
Fully updated and expanded, Creating a Web Site in Dreamweaver CS3: Visual QuickProject Guide is now available. Like all the Visual QuickProject titles, it uses big, color illustrations coupled with clear, concise step-by-step instructions to show you how to complete one specific project in a matter of hours.

There's a whole new chapter covering such interactive items as navigation menus, jump menus, and user-survey forms. The chapter on CSS style sheets has been completely reworked—along with the overall approach to explaining CSS for beginners. Now, instead of first explaining the code/theory behind CSS, we get you started applying some simple CSS rules. With your feet nicely wet, it's then much easier to learn to swim.

About those example files: Read all of the explanatory note before downloading the example files for this new edition. The process of setting up your site to use these files as you follow the book step by step is not straightforward. (I wish it was, believe me.) Take the time to really read the note to save yourself time and frustration. To find the example files for previous editions, click the Dreamweaver 8 or Dreamweaver MX cover images in the left column.

Errors Update

6/27/08: The downloads file has been updated to include the data file mentioned below (details_RomanHoliday.xls.zip). The zip file also has been fixed, so all's ready for downloading once again. Thanks to several readers for spotting the problem and alerting me.
6/23/08: A reader pointed out that the Excel data file for Chapter 4 had the wrong data. I've fixed the problem and reposted a fixed example site folder for download. If you downloaded the example site before 6/23, just grab this one file (details_RomanHoliday.xls.zip) and you'll be up to date without the wait of a long download. The text version of this file, by the way, was correct all along, so no need to update it.

Previously: Another reader spotted this error about Creating Forms: Step 5, page 103 refers to the wrong field in setting up your System CGI to handle forms. See the errors/updates page for the correction.

Something confusing or think you've found an error? See the errors page. BTW, more than a few Mac readers with single-button mice have written in frustration asking "What is a right-click?!" Press the Control key (on either side of the space bar) while clicking your mouse. Sorry—I meant to put a note about that right in the book's Introduction.
